Ukrainian industry of petroleum services as the basis of energy security

Ukrainian industry of petroleum services as the basis of energy security
02 June 2026

On May 28–29, 2026, LLC Burova Technika took part in the XIII International Lviv Oil and Gas Conference by Newfolk OGCC. Company representatives showcased their 25 years of experience and technological capabilities aimed at ensuring energy security in Ukraine.

During the second session of the conference, Oleksandr Velychko, Head of the Drilling Services Department, presented the company’s resilience measures and its readiness to tackle the most challenging tasks.

Mr. Velychko emphasized that over the years our company has achieved significant results in key areas. Speaking in numbers, we have developed over 260 projects, provided more than 100 directional drilling services, prepared nearly 750,000 cubic meters of drilling muds and fluids, and carried out over 550 successful operations using the company’s own coiled tubing units. It’s worth noting in particular that we take on horizontal drilling services (over 60 wells), and that’s been not a one-off thing but became a regular job for our engineers.

Vitaliy Vitryk, Burova Technika CEO, continued the presentation shifting the focus to the overall philosophy of the market and the role of domestic service providers and drilling companies in developing Ukraine’s resource base.

He stressed that Ukrainian service providers were not just a cheaper alternative to western companies; they are the people who keep the industry operational, and the companies that invest and pay taxes in Ukraine. Domestic petroleum services do not need a condescending attitude, but a partnership-based model of cooperation, he emphasized.

The customer-contractor relationship has been further explored on the second day of the conference during a roundtable discussion, where Vitaliy Vitryk delivered a presentation on the Ukrainian petroleum services as a component of the country’s energy security.

e appealed to shift from illusory cost savings attitude, that focused solely on the lowest price per square meter, to a healthier economy that should include long-term contracts, package deals, and multi-criteria procurement. He suggested an algorithm for building cooperation to the market that would include framework agreements with clearly delineated commitments and independent technical and financial audits of service companies that could be performed by the  industry associations, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, and other authorized bodies.

By 2026, the era of simple solutions for onshore wells has come to an end. Complex, deep horizons will have to be developed next. With 25 years of experience, international quality standards, and state of art equipment and tools, LLC Burova Technika is the reliable partner for the government-owned and private businesses in our joint mission to achieve Ukraine’s energy independence.
